They are only in 70-55 sizes, not 40 or 45.What about Pirelli Zero Nero or Bridgestone RE 950 ?

Continental ContiExtremeContact. I just had an opportunity to test this in the snow (thank you blizzard) and it was pretty good. Its not a grand tourer tire so the noise level is noticeable sometimes, not harsh.

Talking size matters

I think that when it comes to all-weather tires that REALLY work, you probably won't find mnay 40 or 45 profile tires. I am not a tire expert, but with such low profile tires the risk of getting bogged down on the snow would seem to increase. Hence, a taller profile would seem to be the tire of choice.

If you search here fo "HydroEdge" you will find many useful opinioons. Also, check TireRack search engine for HydroEdge.

I like them a lot and in the recent So. California monsoons, they performed extremely well and allowed me to drive my car with extreme confidence.

Good luck

Nokian WRs

Dawidy,

Nokian WRs (Nokian's all-season tires) come in your sizes. They may be more of a winter tire than you prefer, but when in the snow, their performance is much appreciated. The surprise is that they are well-mannered in the dry and not excessively noisy.

A good source for Nokians (at least until Tire Rack carries them) is Dave at Waukegan Tire in Illinois. 1-847-336-5305. (I have no affiliation, just a satisfied customer.)

Regards,
Bob
