Can anyone recommend a good value tire for my 1985 300TD with 195/70-14's on it now?

I am in snow country but can't afford to have dedicated winter tires, so I'm looking for an all season radial that does well in snow, but also on long highway trips. A compromise of course, but whats a good deal for under $50 per tire.

Yokohama Avid T4 for $40 fro TireRack are a decent combo tire for good snow, and touring.
