Hey there everyone. I was wondering if a set of stock 500E rims would fit on my 92 400E very well. I want a larger rim, but want to keep the stock look... and what better way to do it than putting a set of 500E rims on it.

I know a lot of you 500E owners have upgraded your rims, have your old set lying around and want to get rid of em?

Basically, no, they don't fit. That 8-hole wheel is a R129 wheel (SL series).

However, I have a Euro-spec MB 16" x 7J 8-hole wheel that was used on 400Es and E420s from April 1993 onward when the brakes were upgraded (16" wheel then became necessary to fit the brakes). It is 46 mm offset. With the M103 and M104 W124s, use 205/55/16. With the M119, use 215/55/16.

Hm, that is odd... mine is a 92, and had the brakes upgraded to 93 (under warranty), and still have the 15's. Hmm, maybe I am on something, and need to go check them again to see if they are 15's or 16's.

Its fine, the stock 15" wheels do clear the brake calipers by very little, but indeed they do. You can go with the 8-hole replicas' TireRAck has. I have them, because of my brake upgrade, which are basically stock 93 400E brakes. The 15" would fit fine (replicas) but the 16" SLK wouldn't, so I had to go with a different set of 16", its all dependent on the brake clearance a wheels has (usually related to offset and wheel design) Good Luck.

NOTE

This brake upgrade was only on European 400Es and E420s...
