Just a follow-up and hint on the above posting, for those that have ever had their wheels off following a Canadian Winter, have you ever looked on the inside rim on the back side of the wheel?
All the salt and road junk that has gathered over the winter, can leave quite a layer of crud on the inside of the wheel, this in turn can throw off the balance immediately. An easy way to see how your wheels are, is to crank the wheel lock to lock and crawl under neath slightly and look at the inside of the wheel. You will need a screwdriver, or small flat block of wood to scrap everything off, when I get tires changed, I am amazed on the stuff that is gathered on the insides at times. And dont for a moment think that all dealers do this, or even tires shops, I have to tell most guys to do this, they simply are lazy, dont know, or dont think it will bother the wheel. Tip #2. If you wheels feel like they are imbalanced, think of where you have been lately.... In my new sub-division, my car feels and sounds like something is ammiss, after collecting vast quantities of mud when driving down the road. It is always something like this if you have a harmonic type of vibration, one triop to the car wash, and voila, no more harmonics!! ------------------ Chris Ecklund 98 300 DT |
