I am ready to purchase some new tires for our SLK32AMG. The rear tires have gotten terribly noisy. As you practically sit over the rear wheels, the noise is very intrusive. What is a good quiet tire? Should I stay away from the ones with the chevron design like what came from the factory? I have never encountered tires this noisy. I have never had a set of tires with a chevron design.

I am not interested in performance. My wife drives the car and just steps on it in a straight line.

Have been using a set of Michelin Hydo Edge.
Quietest tyre I have ever driven on.
Customer with 2002 Toyota likes them too.

On a Vanagon, they reduced the wander and are very quiet on chip laid surfaces.

They have incredible wet grip.

They are also rated for 90,000 miles.
Got them from Tire Rack for $104 a piece.
