I got some chrome wheels for my 123 / studs needed
I got a killer deal on some chrome wheels ($150 with tires)!!
They are the same as this auction on ebay wheels like mine My problem is they came without lug studs and I am not sure what size they might be. There seems to be several styles of Benz lug studs. This guy on ebay seems to have a good selection. Any ideas ebay bolts My car is a 1984 300D The car they came off of was a 1987 300SD (but not original) The total lug size of the 1987 300D bolt is 61mm, but I dont know if the bolt that was installed was original or not. I think my lug studs are 12mm Last edited by brabus; 04-21-2005 at 10:33 PM. |

Careful
I just went through this.
The lug bolts (wheel studs) should be a 17mm hex head by M12 x 1.5. with a half round wheel stop. My 2001 E wagon (non 4-matic) has these on. It looks like this: --!)---- or this ---!)------------ Take off one of your existing wheels and put a bolt through the wheel. Look at the threads sticking out and measure them from the backside of the wheel. Next, remove the lug bolt and put it through the NEW wheel. The threads need to be sticking out as much BUT NOT FURTHER than your factory set up. It the threads are longer, they couild and will rip apart your emergency brake internals. measure the half round lug stop to where the threads need to be on your new wheel. NAPA auto parts have the wheel studs you need. I bought a set of 03 E calss wheels and put them on my 01 E calss and needed shorter lugs. Car Quest carries Doorman parts. Their catalog number for my new lugs is# 610-249. Look at their catalog and you will know what you need. All of the sizes and demintions are in their book. NAPA was able to convert the number and have them in the next day. Car Quest said it would take a week for the new lungs to come in. Good luck. I got my wheels on eBay too! |

I trust that the ones you got were not ET51,
but something like ET25 or ET 21.5, or even less than that. Wheels with a 51mm positive offset won't go onto a W123 without some pretty expensive hubcentric spacer arrangements to move them outward into the proper relationship with the suspension and old-style wheel bearings.
