tire shop stripped one of the bolts !

Had the 260E for wheel rotation and the guy at the shop tighened the lugnuts too tight. apparenlty he didnt have the air gun properly set for torque. I knew it because when I tried to open one up when I came home it wont even move. so i went back to the shop and had him loosen them up a bit. then I came back and hand tightened to make sure they were secure. while doing that I noticed that one of the bolts in the rear has been stripped as the lug is rotating freely in it !
so now what ? i don't want to end up changing the whole assembly. any other options ?
thnx.

Does the shop owner take responsibility? Will he repair/replace whatever is needed? He should...

the shop refuses to accept any responsibility.
at the moment I'm looking for ways to fix rather than ways to win a battle with the shop.

Replacing a wheel stud is not all that difficult.

I've done wheel studs on BMW 2002, Porsche 911, Isuzu Trooper..Toyota Corolla >> but no Benz (yet)

You are going to have to remove the wheel, the brake caliper, brake rotor and then you should have access to the hub. Pretty straightforward... keep disassembly till you can get to the stud.. Use a hammer and pound the stud out of the hub...

You are going to need a floor jack and jackstands..

I'm no lawyer, but under Business Law, a Bailment is created. They have the key and they are responsible. Period.

The repair shop can say anything they want. Take them to small claims court.
