Need help with tire offsets

gruppe-

i am looking to upgrade the wheels on my 1993 300TE. the car has the stock wheels which are 15" x 6.5" w/ an offset of 48mm. i'm having a hard time finding a listing of the offsets of various wheels on various benzes. i particularly like the 17" wheels on the clk cars and i have seen a few sets for sale @ a pretty reasonable price. does anyone know for sure if these will fit? i don't know anyone with a clk that i could 'borrow' the wheels off of, so i'm a little frustrated. help!!!

tia,

robert in brooklyn

Same story

lino-

i have seen that thread/ post. in the end there wasn'tany answer given. i like several of the wheels shown, but nobody seems to know what fits what. in the bmw world, everyone pretty much knows what fits what. the info. is pretty easy to find, and if it's not published, there are usually a couple of guys under any rock that have the pertinent info. this is my first benz in a loooong time, and i'm not really current on them anymore. the offset and wheel fittament info. really must be out there somewhere. are there any tech's out there that know? tire rack dude? anybody?

thanks,

robert in brooklyn

Sorry that no one is responding to this thread . I did find out that Mercedes has a book or catalog that has all their wheels with sizes and offsets. If you can get a copy of that from a dealer, even a photocopy, that would be a good start. Wish I had more info for you .

I also need this kind of info from time to time, listing wheel data as a sticky or even a post that we can link to would be a great service.
There are too many different types of wheels in the MB series, its a real nightmare and the sellers often do not take note of the ID numbers on the backside of the wheel! Buyers need that info to prevent costly mistakes.
BTW, I saw a set of 16 in five spoke aftermarket wheels from Europe on a 300TE, the man shipped the car to St Petersburg, FL. Wheels are on eBay at a decent price but pickup only
I recall a Shopforum member lives in that area, Oh well, here tis:
