avoid the seller and the wheels.

the wheels are not flattering to your car and most importantly the seller's feedback indicates to me he's a screwball!

he doesn't buy what he bids on.

people like that and scammers are a boil on the backside of ebay!

buy something you don't have to put spacers on.

I agree...I buy NOTHING from someone with a positive feedback of lower than 99% and or under 75 total.

No Spacers Needed

In reply to your original question, I have used similar wheels on both an '83 SEC and '86 300 SDL without spacers, with no problems whatsoever. Hope this is helpful in your search!

I have an '84 300SD. Did this chassis have the same wheel fitment as your cars noted above? I once purchased wheels from a 1991 500SEC and they did not fit properly. Also, the wheels from eBay we are referring to, what Mercedes car out of the factory were they made for? Does anyone know?

I am confused as to what wheels fit on which years of w126 chassis automobiles. It appears through web browsing that these wheels are interchangable from these models:
1972-1985 Mercedes Sedan and SL Convertible 107/109/116/123/126 Chassis
Furthermore it appears that after 1985, Mercedes wheels for the 126 will not fit on 1985 and earlier 126 models.

Am I correct? Thanks for the help.

In searching for wheels, you must also pay attention to the offset. This will determine whether they will fit.

In the case of the SD, you need an offset of about 25 mm. Anything below 30 mm will be fine.

You can ask the seller for the offset. There generally is a designation "ET" stamped on the inside of the wheel. The two numbers following the "ET" is the offset in mm.

You must be careful about this. Many wheels from a W124 look like factory wheels from a W126. They won't fit.

Ronal offset

Hi, After looking at the www.ronalusa.com/ the R-31 wheel comes with 3 different offsets, 12, 25, or 35mm. I have the 25mm on a 1983 380 SEC, with no spacers. Perhaps the set on E-bay had a different offset, explaining the need for spacers. I was told that my Rims originally came from a 107, but I have no way of proving that. I hope this clarifies some questions. Jim
