taking delivery of c320 elegance soon, want to change 205/55 tires to 225/55 or 225/50 tire size, my sales rep says this is not recommended due to altering wheel rotations per mile and giving speedo error, surely the wheel diameter is staying the same , i would be only altering the tire width by 20mm, could i do this, if not what about a 215/55 size? thanks. I believe the 225/50/16 will be virtually the same rolling diameter as the 205/55/16 tires.
The 225/55 I think will be off, and 215 will be a bit smaller I think. I'm not a tire guy or a tech, but My car currently has 205/55/16 on 16x7.5 wheels, and I could easily put on 225/50/16. It may or may not need a fender roll. Some have fit them in without the need for a fender roll, others have needed it. Of course I'm sure Luke the Tire guru here can confirm this or correct this.
