i just recieved my 17x7.5 37mm.offset AMG rims. i am planning to put them on my 87 300E. since i want to make it work right i'm asking for some help. what size tires should i use? what brands and models of tires? do i need to flare my fenders to make this work??? what is the best process for flaring my fenders??
your comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks! adam

I had a '95 E420 with the same 17" AMG alloys you have. The car was lowered a little over an inch front and rear with Eibach springs. I had Bilstein sport shocks. The first set of tires I bought were 225 45 17 Bridgestone S02 Potenzas. Had plenty of clearance front and rear. Tires wore out fast. Went to Pirelli P7000 SuperSports with 235 45s in the back and 225 45s in the front. Wore a little better-better in rain. Final setup was 235 25s all the way around in Pirelli P7000s. Contrary to what most on this site say-I had pretty good usage out of the Pirellis. Tire Rack told me I would have to roll the fender lips in the back. I never rolled the fenders and had no clearance problems even with 4 people and luggage. NEVER scraped a tire-front or rear. Different cars do different things. GOOD LUCK!

Adam, that final setup in the last post should have read: 235 45s all the way around. NOT 235 25s. WOW!
