W124 wheels on W126???

Has anyone fitted the stock 15" eight-hole W124 (1994 E420) wheels to a W126 (1987 300SDL)?

I'm fairly sure that this will not work without spacers.

The W124 uses an offset of 49 IIRC and the W126 uses an offset of 23. The W124 wheels will be too far inboard and will hit the tie rods.

W124 vs. W126

You are right. I tried the 124's and see what you meant. Thank you.

How about the other way around? Will the 126 fit the 124?

Noooooooooooo

Absolutely not. I tried it - statically, not driving - and found the 124 offset inadequate on the 126. By a lot. You would bang/scrap wheels on suspension parts.

Tirerack has an 8-hole replica in 15" and 16" for just over
a hundred bucks to fit the 126. I'm about to put a set on
mine.

8-hole wheels from Tire Rack

That is precisely what I did on my 300SDL with the AT-Italia's in 16" wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza 600 225(55)X16 tires. The car looks and handles very well. Four wheels with mounted tires were delivered to my house for under $1K,

If anyone can tell me how to attach a photo, I will post a picture of the car with this set up. It makes the 126 look very contemporary.

Tire Rack's 8 Hole...

Gigtime - I just did that for one of my 126s (16") and they look pretty good (replaced some shabby looking original 15 holes).

Luke gets 'em shipped FAST out of Shreveport.

I had a problem/flaw in one of mine (a weird "smudge") that manifested itself after putting them on the car. It seems exposure to light brought out a painting defect that was UNDER the clear coat and couldn't be removed.

Luke was on it like a chicken on a June bug - shipped a replacement and paid for return shipping of the flawed wheel.

Luke's your man

Kevin
