I am looking to replace my '00 ML320 tires this spring with high performance tires. Performance in wet/dry wanted, as I will keep the OEM tire/wheel combo for winter driving only. I am thinking about '18 AMG style wheels with ?? Any recommendation?

Michelin 4x4 in stock size 255/65/16 or 255/55/18 if you wanted to go that route. Best SUV tire IMHO. Very car like.

If you are looking for a truck/SUV Trie you can't go wrong with the michelin.

If you are looking for a high performance street tire, Talk to Luke @ Tirerack.

He will have all the answers for you.

As an ML Owner Myself, I have done alot of research in this. I believe Motor Trend or Car and Driver had a test of 4 tuned MLs. A Stock ML 55, Stillen, RENNTech, and Lorinser. The worst combo they said was the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 because it stuck too well, that it actually made it harder to tell when the car was about to tip over instead of the tires giving way gently.

For an 18" upgrade, I would go Yokohama AVS S/T or Pirelli Scorpion PZero in 285/50/18 for a good combo. If you want to go Michelin because you are a die hard Michelin fan, then you will have to go with a 255/55/18 combo.

Another combo I did consider was the 19x9.5 Milli Miglia Evo with Michelin 4X4 DIAMARIS tires in 285/45/19s.

Good Luck.
