correct tire press 300td, please

car did not come with owners manual.

got the front end aligned and on the hwy the car seems rolly when changing lanes. maybe that is inpart the hydro suspension(slushpension?).

anyway the tires measure a uniform 25lbs. what should they be?

thanks in advance.

According to my Haynes manual, the cold pressures for a 123 wagon are 28.4 front and 31.3 rear. That agrees with the owners manual for my sedan.

Hey,
I just wanted to point out that you should also read the tires themselves. They will give you a pressure to inflate to also.

I was wrong

I did some research (clearly I had nothing better to do) and discovered something I found interesting.

From Enjoy The Drive.com ([URL=http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=8748])

"The inflation pressure on the sidewall of the tire is the MAXIMUM operating pressure determined by the tire manufacturer," says BFGoodrich (www.bfgoodrichtires.com). "It is not necessarily the correct tire inflation for your vehicle. You should ALWAYS use the inflation recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. You can find this information in your vehicle owner's manual, or posted on the inside edge of the driver's door or other door, or on the inside of the glove box door."

On my 85' Euro the gas door says 28 front and 32 rear.

thanks again.

less pressure in the fronnt under the engine than in the back where the empty space is located? i always had more pressure under the engine.

reading the tires was an idea i had after i had posted.

i just checked the door jam and the plate says 28 and 36??????? HOLY INFLATION FACTOR BATMAN!!!

Hey,

Your cars mileage is based on the inflation posted on the door jam and the owners manual. That's what your supposed to use when inflating a tire.
this is the same for all vehicles not just diesels.

I run mine at 34 front 36 rear. Turn in's a bit more crisp and the car will get slightly better mileage. The 123 feels a lot better with higher tire pressure in my opinion.

28 front, 32-36 rear

This is according to the owners manual for my 85 300TD

The rear inflation depends on how much weight you're carrying.

32 = empty wagon

36 = fully loaded wagon

Since I usually put things in and then take them out, I keep mine at 34 in the rear (28 up front).
