Will 7/2Jx 16 Offset 44 mm work on W210?

I have 7 1/2x 16 offset 41 with 215/55 R16 tires on my facelift nov 1999 E 240. I bought the same original Elegance line rims used from a dealer for winter tires. But now I realize that those are offset 44mm. They carry a MB 210 parts number. I am confused as to why they are different offset and to rubbing. Any specialists out there to help me out???
Regards,
Reinhard

your original wheel was 16x7.5 ET40 so, 41 will probably work
