Tire Question '99 E430
I am on my second E class. Current one is an '99 E430 with 70,000 miles and I run about 15K miles per year - all highway. I have been running Michelin MXV4+ for years but only getting 35K to 40K miles per set. The snow traction with these does not seem to be too great either.
I'm looking for a 80K tire with good snow and rain performance. Handling is not a big deal since I do mostly highway driving. I am considering a set of Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred which cost about the same as the Michelin MXV4+ but have twice the tread life. My issue is that the Goodyear is not available in the OEM size of 215/55 x 16 93H. The closest size I can find in the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred with the same speed rating and at least the same load rating is 225/60 X 16 97H. Any problem with the larger tire beside that my speedometer will be off by 3 to 4%. Thanks, Lou loudbmw at msn.com |

225/50/16 would be the correct size.
You could try posting this in the " Whhel & Tire " forum. Maybe Luke ( Tire Rack ) will respond.

205/55 is close to 225/50 16
215/55 has larger diameter.
