CLS500 18" wheels on a 123?!

Since I just aquired a set of these, I'm going to try and make them fit on to my 300CD. The front wheel clears fine so far, but the rear (275/35/18) just barely scrapes the rubber on the inner wheel well. I'm thinking I can overcome this with one of those small insert spacers since it's really not that much. The tire clears the fender fine, and tucks inside ok well too with weight on the rear of the car.

My test with a front wheel though was on a 123 sedan- a little different than my CD as mine has been lowered in front, but with the exception of maybe hitting the outer fender all looks ok so far.

properly no, they probably wont without help. Not as lucky as the current wheels on it, they bolted right on, no modifications, no rubbing. I've got a 126 and 124 I may try them on if too difficult for the 123. Or I might just throw them out, who knows.

but, it is not a safe application since you are using the 12mm OE bolts on wheels that have a 14mm seats .... with the improper seat engagement it can easily cause major / catastrophic issues

not to mention the offset differences that alter the suspension geometry and adversely affect the handling

yeah true, I hadn't looked that closely at the bolt size yet, I didn't notice they were any different. This I have noticed in the past on wheels I've gotten from 220's etc...
