Will 16in ML wheels fit a 126 Chassis?

I have a 1986 300SDL with stock Chrome Wheels on it. I was wondering if I put a proper sized tire on it, if the ML 16in wheels would fit on my car. I am not a huge chrome fan, and I like the updated 5 spoke style of that wheel. Id like to put a bigger wheel on the car, but I want smething that does not scream... new E or S Class wheel on an old car... Any input on reasonably priced options would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Aaron

you can see some pix of the car here...

I am having very similar issue. I have a 1990 300TE, got myself some near new 2003 ML320 wheels. The bolt pattern is the same...but there is a significant offset difference from my W124. It is about 20mm from what expert spacer dude calculated. Right now, those wheels will NOT bolt up without a spacer. And...being 8 inches wide...they will stick out almost an inch past the fender line. I put some Goodyear Eagle 205-55 and they look snappin'.
Recommendations have pretty much all been to buy wheels that already have the proper offset, which I will most likely do. Gotta see what I can sell these for first. money money money
