I have 205/70R14 on my 240D, the wheels came from a 500 coupe.
Recently I had to get me a set of tire, ended up with Yokohaha brand, up until this time I always used Michelins. These Yokohamas have effectively turned my car into a Lincoln Continental, very soft ride almost to a point of being dangerous on steep turns.
I tried nearly all tire stores in Houston, no one stocks Michelins in this size, does anyone know if Michelins still manufacture tires for 205/70R14, I am ready to go back to Michelins if I can find one.

I currently have a set of 205/70-14 Firestone Affinity LH30 on my 300D. They are H rated (about $400 per set, installed). I've put about 20K miles on them so far and like them in both the dry and wet. The ride may be a little harsh for some people.

205/70 R14 - Khumo's 95T - they were the cheapest ones on tire rack and they actually have ok DOT ratings, but they still look under flated under the '80 SD.

This is the thread I need right now! My current tires (from previous owner) are Toyo Spectrum P195/60R14. My speedometer reads 5 MPH higher than it should be and the ride seems a bit floaty even with brand new Bilsteins. The handling otherwise seems great though, and the tires are very quiet and seem to have good traction...& I like the Toyo's tread design. The wheels are the stock 14's with hubcaps.

The alignment was WAY off so two of my tires will need replacement now. However, the recommended tires for my W115 240D are P175SR14. These tires are small. Worse yet, the spare is a different model Toyo P185/75R14....so I may be best off buying 5 new tires.

I want a smooth ride but would desire a bit less "float"...although I kind of like having wider tires than 175 (my SUV has P235's) I'm sure I need a taller tire. Any recommendations on size? Should I go with the stock size (what does the "S" mean?) Any recommendations on brand?

I don't know what rear end ratio this car has but it's a 4 speed manual and I also have a bit of rear spring sag, so I wonder how much taller tires I can safely run. I would think that taller tires would lower my highway RPM's a bit which would be good.

Come to the 21st century, I don't think any new cars use 14in wheels anymore!

225/55/16 with a V or Z rating is just sublime on a W126. Oh yeah do those suckers track on the off ramps. The ride trade off is so slight its worth it. Goodyear Eagle F1 I think thats the name and I think it comes in that size, thats what I want to try next!
