I recently mounted Winterforce studded snows, 215/55 SR 16 93S, on the stock wheels. On dry roads, the ASR light flashes with increasing frequency the longer I drive, during any single trip, when the ambient temperature is over 40F degrees. I have tried increasing the pressures to the recommended "high speed, fully loaded", values found on the inside of the filler flap. There is some improvement, but not much. After about 45 minutes of highway driving, a kickdown from 5th-4th will make the ASR flash, even on a dry straight.
The problem is less severe in the rain. I suspect that the tires are heating up progressively the farther I drive. I am not driving at excessive speeds, and nowhere near the 112mph speed rating. The wheels are balanced; the car is aligned; the suspension is not worn. Is there a problem with the load rating? Is it safe to drive on these tires?
