Tires/Rims for W210, 1999 E300

My stock tires are 215/55/16. I would like to change the rims and tires to something along the lines of either a 235/40/18 or 265/35/18. My concern is that when I rotated the tires last week I noticed that there is not much clearance between the stock tires and the upper control arm.

Does anyone have any warnings, words of experience/wisdom, etc. regarding this consideration?

I thank you in advance.

(P.S. I wish my wife would let me drive tha car once in a while.)

Let me know if you want to sell the old wheels if you buy new ones.
