Any suggestions on tires for the 107 chassis cars? The car in question is an '85 with the original 14" wheels, which will be retained. We are looking for a tire that will handle well on good pavement, but not be a disaster if rain or light snow is encountered. Does such a tire exist? We haven't driven the car on a snowy road yet. Are they a horror on slippery surfaces? Any help would be much appreciated!

We bought two sets of tires this year for our 107 (1983 280 SL Euro). For summer tires, we went with Pirelli P4000 in the original 205/70-14 size, and they work fine. For winter, we went with Nokian Hakkapelitta 1 snow tires (4; also 205/70-14) mounted on stock steel wheels. So far, they have been great in the snow. The SL is pretty heavy and has a good heater (our car has heated seats, too). In my experience, a heavy rear wheel drive vehicle with good tires works fine in snow (after all, the highway patrol uses Ford Crown Vics). Since we live in North Dakota, we figured we were going to drive the SL in snow. Otherwise, we might have to store it for five or six months of the year!
