I own a 1987 300D. I am having a problem with tire inflation. My Michilen MX4s are about one year old. I have to put air in the tires every several weeks or they go flat. The dealer where I bought the tires say the problem is with the wheels. Does this seem right?

Sounds like Valve stems to me. Ask them to change the valve stems. Using all 4 wheels as an excuse sounds a little cheap to me.

By chance, are the wheels chrome plated? If so, the leak may be caused by flaking chrome at the bead edge. I have an older wheel that does the exact same thing. I don't have a good solution, sorry.
