Suggestions? chrome lug bolts or the plastic covers
I just got the rims painted on the 82 300sd but the lugs look terrible. I had them painted off the car so the original lugs are still on.
Would you go with a new set of chrome lugs or the plastic covers over the original ones? I found a set of 12 mm chrome ones on ebay for 29.00 It is a full set. Or does anyone have a full set of w126 lugs I could buy and paint and swap out with mine?

I bought that same set on ebay and they look fine. You can see them with the new replica rims in my gallery.

I bought that same set on ebay and they look fine. I would rather have had bolts that weren't chrome but didn't feel like buying oem or refinishing mine. You can see them here.

I eBay'ed a set from the same guy (I think) some time ago and one of the bolts had a fairly visible defect on it (and someone at the factory plated and buffed it anyway). I was sent a replacement very quickly. Still, made me a little nervous about things I CAN'T see.
Before this bought a set of those plastic covers; they really aren't bad for what they are. However, I had to do a bit of sanding on the bolt heads (mostly to remove rust) to get them to fit well. I put a bit of grease inside them to stop rust underneath. I broke one of the provided tools getting them off until I got the hang of it. They are larger (obviously) than the bolts themselves and are a bit more eye-catching, maybe too much so.
