My brother just bought a car trailer and I was surprised to find "Made in China" on the trailer load tires.

Just a matter of time, both tires and cars.

As with every tire made, I would bet that Dunlops have their specialization that they are very good in and areas they they just try to get some market share. In my experience, Dunlops are not for large/heavy vehicles. I have heard some reports from people that drive small, high performance cars (WRX for example) that rave about the Dunlop performance tire (sorry, I do not know the model). Since the vast majority of cars I have had fall into the "it weighs HOW much?" category, Dunlops have not performed well for me. In my mind (I know, that is a scary place) I have brands that go with specific applications. Goodyears are for very high performance applications (and dont mind that they wear out in 15-20k miles), Perillis (sp) are for the "rubber band" sized tires and Michelins are for the cruisers. I know that there are many examples outside this 'guideline', but that is what I have perceived. *shrug*
After the top tier above, there are brands that like to compete with the the front runners (like Lexus to Mercedes, Acura to BMW etc). BF Goodrich goes with the Goodyears, Continential (sp) with Michelins and so on.

I just checked with a store that I just found nearby and they have some BF Goodrich Momentums (made by Michelin) with a 70K warrantee for $200 for two out the door. These might be a good way to go.

Bridgestone RE950's seem to be highly rated.

Currantly I am running Yokohama Avid V4S.

I refuse to buy Mich tires anymore because of how they screwed up the US F1 race last year. I will never, never, never buy another one of their products.

Bridgestone and Goodyear seem to make some of the best tires on the market now.

i have used michelins for about 25 years. my brother liked some bridgestones he had on a work truck about ten years ago so i tried them on two of my cars and was disappointed. they rode and gripped well but started humming after a while.

michelins only for me.

i am running some kumhos on my wifes pt cruiser but that is because my son in law took them off his 911 and bought two sizes bigger which now rub. the cruiser looks pretty cool with the wider tires on the back.

Conti

Continental does not make an H rated tire in a 195 70 14. They don't make any 14" tires any more. Michelin has stopped making the MXV in the 14 inch.

My tire man is very trustworthy. The Good Year tripletreds were more than the Toyo's and he said the toyo Proxes was a much better tire.

The Proxes tires came new on my dad's new Lexus sedan. Believe me, Lexus does not put junk tires on their new cars.

I think Toyo's came on my Aunt's Acura from the factory as well. They are probably a fine tire just like everything else thats made in Japan.

I have never had a bad experience with a Michelin product. They all wore like iron, handled well and were quiet. Continentals can be hit or miss. I've got them on my pickup and they have been great but not as quiet at the Michelins. I've got Michelin X-ones on the MB and they are almost gone but still grip well and are quiet. I had a set of Goodyear Assurance's put on my brothers Camry and the result was most impressive. Great treadwear rating, grip and water performance. Maybe the next tire on the MB. RT

Ok

So I read through all of these posts and I think I might go with the Goodyear Assurance Triple Threads. Only problem is I was hoping for the next size up just to help out with my Speedo wich is off a bit. I noticed on the milage check on the highway I'm a 1/10 of a mile off after 3 miles. Anyone have any recomendations for that. I noticed the Goodyears do not come in the larger size for my 14in wheels.

If I get the pictures of my tires....the original spare and my other tire....you will see that I am in dire need of new tires. At least one as the others all look fine.

I think with what you are going to do with your wagon you might really want some 205/70/r14's....it would be just about right to correct the speedo too.

Either way...

I've gotten MXV4's from Costco in 195/70/14 as recently as 4 months ago and had no prob getting them. Ride quality is terrific. No big disaster recall history. For a 1983 300TD. Won't ride anything else.
