94 E320 wheel upgrade

I am researching a wheel and tire upgrade for me MB 94 E320 W124.. I have been reading a lot of threads and it seems the 18" setup looks nice but it requires modification to the auto. I have settled with the idea of a 17x7.5 wheel setup since the only thing I am able to modify is my selfish behaviour, and that is an ongoing issue altogether..

Here is my question, I went into the speed shop and the gent mentioned the wheel I have preference in is a 17x7...Is this the same as the 17x7.5 and they just call it a 17x7 for short? Will a half an inch make that much of a difference on the appearence end of things? I am really confused now, any thoughts or comments will be appreciated..
Thanks

did he also mention he has a bridge for sale in Brooklyn or that he has some land for sale in Florida at a great price with a guaranteed watter supply

where I come from 7" does not equal 7.5" and yes there is a noticable difference in performance and load capacity between the two sizes

yes there will be a noticable difference. Mainly depending on what sized tire you run. 17x7.5 is what people with 190s upgrade to. You have a 124 man. At least upgrade to 17x8 or 18x8-9. The width of the wheel all depends on what kind of tire you want to run. a 17x7 would be more suitable for a 195/205 series tire, while the 7.5 will be more suited for a 215/225 setup. In all honesty, you could run 205,215,225,235 series tire on the 7.5, but some would be stretched and look ugly and wear unevenly. Here is a good tire size calculator that tells you what sized tire will work on what sized wheels:
