Tire pressure 88 300SDL
My car calls for 27# front and 34# rear. I would think it to be the other way around with the weight of the engine over the front. Any explanation?

It's an M-B thing.
Mine calls for F 28, R 32 psi. Normally I run F 30, R 32 psi, unless I'm hauling a substantial load ( Mother-inlaw ), in which case I would increase the pressures by @ 2 psi.

You maintain a constant weight load in the front, as for the rear sometimes you have passengers, trunk luggage, varies weight of the fuel tank.

No such thing as an 88 SDL.
Anyway I run 34psi all the way around on mine, higher pressure makes it track a bit better.

tire pressure
My error, the car is a 300SEL. A senior moment, I suppose. But thanks for the pressure suggestion.

With the 93 190e 2.6 I raised the tire pressures to 34 front and 38 rear (cold, not driven) and WOW. The car is transformed. At 80 it feels like it is on rails. Even uneven/choppy roads seem to be managed better.
