tire pressure on 300SEL

My car calls for 27# front and 34# rear. This seems odd in that it seems the heavy front should have the higher pressure. I am using stock size tires, 205x65R 15. Any comments on this?

You will usually find the recommended pressure in the rear tires to be higher than the front tires. I think part of the reason for this is handling and if the car is loaded with rear seat occupants, then the rear will be heavier.

I usually use close to the same air pressure in the front and rear tires. If you stick to the recommended pressures, you will usually find that the front tires will wear the shoulders down first and the rears will wear the center of the tread first.
