3 piece AMG / OZ rims
Just bought a set of these 3 piece AMG / OZ racing wheels, 17 inch, 8J and 10J.
Has someone maybe more info about them? For instance: what is the benefit of 3 pieces? On the back they say: AMG, OZ racing, and FORGED FORGED means they are tougher, or am i wrong? And are not all aluminium (AMG?) wheels forged? Thanks in advance for the info! |

Hi,
I run OZ futura 3 piece wheels, 8.5j all round on my Benz. I believe the benefit of three piece rims is that if the rim becomes buckled or dented, the likelyhood is that the outer 2 halves will be the ones damaged, so that replacement is less costly than a whole new wheel. Its also possible to alter the offset and widths of the wheel, by using different outer halves. Forging something stretches and aligns the 'grain' of the metal, making it much stronger than normal casting or machining. Hope this helps.
