I'm having a hard time deciding on new wheels for my car. I have considered MB 15 hole wheels in the 15*7. I would like to use a 245/60/15 tires if they would fit. I am also very fond of the 16 inch wheels on the new clk 320. I really think they would look great on my car. But will they fit? and if so, what size tire could I use. These are a new style wheel, so I suspect I might have a hard time finding a set at a good price. My wife thinks the wheels from a new E320 would look nice. Will they fit? I hope somebody will have an answer for my questions. And if so, thank you. andy

Wheels from the CLK will bolt onto the hub, but the offset will be incorrect. The W123 chassis has a 25mm offset, and most other mercedes have a 35mm.

I found a set of clk wheels. It says they are 16*7 with a 37mm offset. Does my 123 need to have a 25mm offset? What effect will the 37mm offset have? Will they stick out too far? Will they hit the inside of the wheelwell? Will they work? If not, what is the range of wheel size that will work? Sorry to be a pain, but I would really like to have these wheels. thanks, andy

I'm really not too sure on this subject, but if you REALLY want the wheels to fit, you'd have to do either of the following.

1.) If they go "in" to the wheel well too much, you need to get spacers. Not a problem.

2.) If they stick out too much, then you need to make the holes in the wheel deeper by drilling.

Good luck, but please consult with a wheel/tire shop before you do anything.

I hope Andy doesn't mind that I put the picture up. I did e-mail him a while ago asking how they look on his car.

I think the wheels look sharp. I have other wheels in mind from a CLK320.

Yes,

Andy did mention to me in his e-mail that he just bolted them right on. He even uses the 14's lug bolts up front. The rear lug bolts were too long though. I think he ordered shorter ones and problem solved.

I really liked the looks of those CLK wheels on the W123 so I tried looking up some in eBay. The auctions I found said that the CLK wheels could be used on E Class cars also (later E Class cars?). Does that mean that E Class wheels could be used on the CLK which means that they could be used on the W123? This is all very confusing. Thanks for the info.

Edit: The auction I was refering to says that the CLK wheels can be used on the C-Class from 1994 to 2000, and the E-Class from 1988 to 1995.

CLK wheels

The 7 spoke CLK wheels 16 x 7 need a 10 mm in front, but they look stupid in the back because they are too far in, so they need to be spaced too. I tried this with my brothers CLK wheels that he has on his W124 on my w123.

Do you mean that they need a 10mm spacer in the front? And you think the rear needs spacers too? Where would I go about getting proper spacers? Thanks.

With CLK 7 spoke wheels on the W123 cars, they hit the tire rods, therefor they need 10mm spacers at least, you might want to go to 15mm to get it out in the fender more.

The rears are tucked in too much, and it looks stupid, so I think that you should space it out so that they almost hit the fenders.

I know that bekkers.com sells spacers with bolts- a whole package.

the fast lane might sell them, you could check.
