wheels / tires for lowered 300ce

I am going through the suspension on my 1990 300ce and will be using Eibach prokit springs, which will lower it # 1.2". What are the largest wheels and tires that I can use without any body mod's or clearance issues. I'll be using the Bilstien Sport shocks.
I was thinking 17 x 8 with a 17/225/45? I would like to consider 18's but it would probably be asking for touble, and I think the ride might be a little better with the taller side walls?
Anybody with any experience with a lowered 300ce?
Looking for some good advice before I spend the money!

I have a 1992 300ce lowered with 17x8 rims and I had to roll the fenders and install a spacer kit on the front fenders and still get some minor rubbing.

I would stick to a 17x7.5 with an offset of 35 and 225/45/17 rubber to elminate the rubbing

fatty tires

Thanks for the reply. I will probably use the tire rack or similar source for the wheel tire combo, and I would hate to end up with issues once I receive these tires/rims and try and install them, only to find out they don't work without body mod's.
