Short lug bolts ok to mount newer MB rims on W123?

My '83 300D is a euro and has the black steel rims with fancy stainless steel hubcaps. Recently I have picked up 2 sets of rims.

and

My car appears to have the shorter bolts as they are just attached to steel rims. Do I need the longer bolts? Also do I need spacers?

defintly need longer bolts, you want at least 1/2" of meat on the threads sticking out.

Very confusing question. Two sets of rims?
You mean 2 of the upper picture and 2 of the lower picture or
4 of each style.

The question is more complex than the length of the bolts.

You need the proper bolts for each style. If these are genuine MB wheels, then it should be easy. Ask the dealer for the part nos. for the proper bolts two fit each style wheel.

If aftermarket, then you need to somehow find the proper bolts.
I am not any sort of expert, but you need to know that there are at least
two different styles of , what is the word, shoulders? The shape of the bolt collar , either spherical or round. Something like that. You have to get it
right. Bolts must be correct for holes and correct for length. Spacers are
a bad idea.

Also, how do you know these new rims will fit on your older car?

Ok, I didnt see the pics before, the bottom pic of the S class wheels, its not recommended, because they use a larger diameter lug bolt then what your 123 uses. I always thought those wheels were ugly and so I've never tried a set on my car so I can't say for sure if they'll fit or not.

The C class wheels should work- but may have some clearance issues with the tie rods and inner wheel weights.

proper spacers should be no problem. you want correct ones though that have the holes in the same configuration as your bolts. along with the spacers you will need longer lug bolts.

h and r has spacers. and lug bolts. but you can get lug bolts a lot cheaper at lugbolts.com i think it is.

as noted above, you need to put some lug bolts in the rims in question and see how they match up. you need the same amount of thread sticking out of the wheel you want to mount as the stock lugs in their proper wheel. if you use a spacer then it has to stick out of the spacer the same amount. then you can order the lug bolts. check lugnuts.com . if that is not it then it is similar.
