Michellin "Harmony" vibration
Luke (or anybody),
1983 300SD (338,000 miles) Harmony 215/70R14 (12,000 miles) Bought a set of 4 from Tirerack not quite 2 years ago. My third order from Tirerack...very happy so far. I like the tires, but from the start I've had a slight vibration, both in the vehicle and steering wheel. Tried everything to get rid of it. Wheel balance x2, front end alignment, wheel bearing replacement. BTW, this is a well cared-for car...total suspension rebuild, new shocks, etc. Lately, I'm now getting a deep, growling, snow tire type noise that I can hear from 15 to 45 mph, that kind of thumps with every tire rotation. I checked the new front wheel bearing adjustment again and it is perfect, but noticed the left front tire is NOT ROUND! The rim is round, the tire is not. What's going on here?! Any comments you have are welcome. These are my specific questions: 1. Is there a prior history with this tire, the Harmony? 2. What should I do now? Replace 1, 2, or 4? 3. Will Tirerack do anything for me regarding this apparent factory defect? Thank You. Look forward to hearing from you. |
