W126 wheels on a W123
It's been routinely stated on this site and others that 126 wheels are a direct bolt on to a 123, provided you have the longer lug bolts. I put that to the test by trying a tire and wheel from a 560sec onto the front of a 280ce. This was a standard 15 hole rim and tire (560sec full size spare). I want to get rid of the 123 bundts and try a larger 15" wheel too. Didn't work, bolted up fine but the caliper impinged on the inner wheel surface. Huh?

that is surprising.
h & r offers wheel spacers. you can also get longer bolts to go with the spacers. be advised that the h & r spacers appear to come with the bolts included and at the price, they should but the site i ordered from they didnt include the bolts and wouldnt return my calls complaining about needing the bolts. tom w

What was the offset of the 560's wheel?

I can't imagine why the calipers contacted the surface of the wheel but if the bolts are too long they will hit the caliper.
Both of my 123 300TD's have these wheels: Flat Face (15 SLOT) painted wheels from 420SEL etc. Marked 6.5J 15H2 ET21.5 MB 126-400-4102 I love them except for the fact they are chromed. Why did so many US dealers send them out for chroming? A painted wheel is less likey to leak when the chrome starts to deteriorate. I had mine painted with liquid rubber (inside along the bead area) to stop a slow leak on one set. These are good upgrades to a 123 and I think you will agree when you find a set. There is a better choice of tires available in 15 size also. PS Forget wheel spacers!
