Difference between Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 and Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus?

Can someone help me out?

Assuming they’re equal in performance category, size, speed rating, load index, traction grade, and temperature grade, what’s the difference between Michelin “Energy MXV4 S8” and “Energy MXV4 Plus” tires?

The only difference I see between the two is the tread wear grade. The “S8” is 440, and the “Plus” is 400. Big whoop.

What is the practical, real-world difference between them?

I’m assuming the “S8” is the latest and greatest technology. Does this translate to specific benefits or drawbacks?

Which one provides quicker turn in?

Which one has a stronger (meaning brushing a curb while parking will damage it less) sidewall?

I had the Plus on my 2000 Accord as original equipment and the S8 on my 2004 Accord.
They are very similar in handling, ride, control. I had some hydroplaning on the Plus tires, but it never happened with the S8's. I think the S8 is an improved tread. Both were/are V rated. Both are real good tires, but at the price, may not be the best value out there.

I had those tires (both) The plus lasted about 15k for some strange reason. Michelin offered a set of their new Hydroedge tires.
These are much better and cost $10 more list. They have a tread life rating og 800 versu 300-400for the others. I like these because they do not track road irregularities which annoyed me greatly with other tires. They also seem to offer better grip as my car will not slide on my test corner now at the same speed which the others did.
Good luck

When Michelin US posted 10 scale ratings,
Plus had 7 and S8 had 8 for winter traction.

When I see used S8's on ebay, a lot of sipes and grooves are gone at 4~5/32 inch.

A couple of years have passed since the launch of S8, but Plus still seems to be OE tire for many vehicles.
