I have never used mine, but when I tried it out, it was at quite an angle, almost like this: / It didn't seem too safe. Does this sound right? If I have to change a tire out on the road, I want to be able to lift the car. When I bought the car, the spare was flat and the rim was bent. It is now airworthy, but still bent. When I work on the car, I use a floor jack and a pair of jack stands. I had a small 2 ton jack that barely moved the car. My new 3 ton, heavy duty model is great.

yeah that angle doesnt seem right, also beware the jacks on some mbz's will not hold the car from rolling AT ALL, you must block the wheels or the car will roll off and twist the jackstand

Tire Jack
Actually that angle is correct. As you begin to raise the car it will correct sorta like if you were arm wrestling.
As the vehicle is raised, the 15degress or so of tilt will be converted into upward force. As stated earlier make darn sure you apply emergency brake and "Block" the wheels. Better yet, do your self a favor and go to SEARS and buy yourself a small floor jack. They're on sale for $29.99 and come in a 10 x 10 x 24 black case. MUCH safer. That's what I use! |
