rear toe: leave it or repair it? (W124)

W124. 1992 MB 300D.

Rear total toe was out of range, but it could not be adjusted because the left rear toe adjusting bolt was frozen.

notation: * means the degree symbol (superscript o)

Rear

Camber
Left: -1*40' Right: -1*56'

Toe
Left: 0*02' Right: 0*12'
(specified range: -0*04' ~ 0*30')

Rear cross camber: 0*16'
(specified range: -1*00' ~ 1*00')

Rear total toe: 0*14'
(specified range: 0*15' ~ 0*35')

Thrust angle: -0*05'
(specified range: -0*18' ~ 0*18')

it sounds like it is not off enough to spend money fixing.

did you get an estimate for the fix?

Yes, they gave me estimate for reparing it.

Tie rod assembly: $84
Labor: $102
Alignment: $99

so for that kindof money i would probably drive it and observe to see if the tires start wearing funny. a little wear over a long time i probably would live with. wearing a lot quickly would warrent a repair. the repair is several times the cost of tires, i think.

i suspect it will be fine.

100 dollars to put in a tierod? They take 20 minutes at the most.
