Tire Pressure Recommendations / Tire Wear
Another tire wear thread... sorry.
Here's some quick background info: Car is a '95 E300D with enhanced Sportline package (20mm H&R rear swaybar, limo front swaybar, E500 front struts, 400E Sportline front springs). It was recently aligned to Sportline spec, and the rear camber is -1° 20' (KMac camber bushings). I am running Continental SportContacts in 225/45-17 front (7.5" rim) and 245/40-17 rear (8.5" rim). Currently, I am running 32 PSI front and 30 PSI rear. I am getting normal tire wear up front, but the rear tires are wearing in the middle only. Wear is consistent right to left. I have been told that 124 chassis cars with wider tires are known for this center wear. Obviously, the first thought everyone has when they see center wear is that the pressure is too high, but 30 PSI seems reasonable to me. Should I try dropping it more? Right now if I look at the tire, the center is noticeably concave and the car seems to be running on the outer edges of the tire, but the center tire wear continues. Anyone running a similar wider, low profile tire setup? What pressures have worked for you? Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks,
