Hey there! Here's the dilemma...I have just put a set of 15" eight hole style replica rims on my 300SD

The lug bolts are not what I expected though...

The set of lug bolts that came with the rims were too long and rubbing against the brakes? I couldn't reverse the car!

The tire shop replaced them with another set. I thought they would be flush with the face of the rims like the first set. Instead, they can be seen sitting way inside the lug holes. I need binoculars

I want the bolts to appear flush with the front of the rims..is there a way? Maybe an extension? New lugs?

Thanks.

Preet

My suggestion is to call luke at the tire rack, he'll get you straightened out. Otherwise just go to a local machine shop and have them cut the longer lugs down enough so they will fit properly

There were no locking bolts to fit my OZ wheels so I had to order longer ones and cut the tips off so they were the short enough to clear the brakes. I had it done at a locksmith shop, since they have plenty of metal cutting tools. No problems.

Different lengths

Brother of The Benz
Preet, the "Technical Data Passenger Cars" for models 107, 124, 126 and 201 lists 6 different lug bolts.
There are only 2 lenghts "L" from the lug seat to the end of the bolt(shank), 21 and 40 mm. and 4 height "K" of the head bolt, 10.5, 11.5, 22.5 and 43.5 mm.
They are compilled as:
K=11.5 L=21 steel sheet
10.5 21 steel sheet
43.5 40 light alloy
10.5 40 with and without steel bushings
10.5 40 with steel bushing
22.5 40 light alloy
Go to your Dealer's Parts Department for further help.
Try these dimensions to find an OEM bolt.
Needless to say just how critical it is to properly torque you wheel bolts, not only in lb/ft but also in a progressive sequence; MOST CRITICAL on allot wheels.
Happy Trails Beep Beep from The Spiderman in Houston!!!
