17" AMG wheels on W124 E420

Hello. I did a little searching and did not find reference to these specific wheels on this car. On Sunday I'm going to look at a set of 17" AMG wheels. The owner, who is a work acquaintance, says it has this info on the back of the wheels:

Front = 7 ? J x 17H2 ET37
Rear = 8 ? J x 17H2 ET30

I asked for the MB part numbers as well, but he didn't give those. Might be after market wheels that don't have MB part numbers. I'll find out Sunday.

These wheels were on his 2003 CLK320 that he is returning (lease).

Anyway, I would like to know if these should fit on my '94 E420. The wide rear wheels have a smaller off set, most E420 wheels have high 30's to low 40's in an off set measurement.

I'm going Sunday to test fit them on my car. All these would be used for are the occasional autocross and track days I participate in for the MBCA. I have 16" wheels for every day use. The problem is that I can't really test the suspension travel in a neighborhood like I would on the track. Do you think I should have any problems? I have no suspension modifications.

Thanks,

Where are typical interference problems with wide wheels or low off set? Steering parts, suspension parts, wheels well, fender lip, or other?

It turns out these are genuine AMG wheels. They have a 170 part number. The guy said he got them off someone who bought a CLK500 and wanted to move from 17" to 18" wheels.

Initial results: The outside edge (sidewall) of the rear tires scuff the wheel well when a lot of suspension travel happens. I have not confirmed if the fronts are scuffing or not. I guess the rear syspension is softer?

It would work great with the W124 E500 fenders that are flared out, or the fender roll technique described in that .pdf file that floats around here.

Rolling the fender lips is for the front, not rear. I did this to my '01 C320 when I installed the C36 wheels (7.5X17 & 8.5X17, same as yours) but I doubt the tires would ever contact the lip anyway since I have the correct tire size for the wheels. 225/45 & 245/40-17.
