Would a kind soul be able to provide me with MB part numbers for the Evo II polished and silver in 17 x 8.25?
I'm trying to source it from my dealer but since the E500/500Es were never officially sold here, they are unfamiliar with them.

I understand the new SL500 Silver Arrows have them as options. Maybe they are in the catalog (which I don't have) as well?

Much obliged...

I don’t know the part number, but you can get them at bekkers.com:

Good luck

Ricardo,

I understand that. And I have checked the price at Bekkers. The problem is I am all the way in Asia and want the wheels soon. I'm afraid the airfreight on those would make them prohibitively expensive!

But thanks

Oops. Should have closed this thread already...

Thanks Cy. I was able to purchase my wheels some time back and got them at a bargain too!

The sticker on the box quotes that part number:

while the wheel itself has another part number stamped on it:

I got them from the dealer. Read all about it here: The postman rang twice...

I got them polished but soon grew tired of them so they're now being painted silver. The rest of the car is getting sprayed a layer or two of clear coat while getting the facelift.

Rainmaker,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of the polished EVO II's and my car is pearl black also. Am I making a mistake, should I get the silver finish? Is the polished finish like the chrome on the car? I also have, not yet installed, a Remus muffler with the polished tips. I thought the polished wheels would look best. What is your experience?

EVO II dilemma

I'm struggling with same dilemma, polished vs. silver. Also, any input on width choice (7.5 vs. 8.25) re: ride quality, tracking, handling, appearance would be appreciated. Thanks.

The polished look nice on first inspection but:

(1) get dirty very easily/hard to keep clean/smudges show easily
(2) although different, have the same finish as some of the japanese cars (civics and others) while looking almost the same as some of the civic oem wheels (gets annoying)
(3) in the end, aren't as nice as the silvers

On 7.5 vs. 8.25, the 7.5s were made for the 190Es. It will be too narrow for a W124, especially an E500/500E. The 8.25s are perfect with 245/45 17s.

Don't worry about your muffler tips not matching the finish of the wheels, they hardly ever do. And polished is somehow de riguer for muffler tips...can't imagine how'd they look painted

what are you thoughts on the titanium finish? They are also available in the 8.25 X 17" size although Bekers does not indicate that.

Never seen them in person...

...but I guess they'd go color-wise with a pearl black 500E. I was really considering them, and my dealer told me they were available in an 8.5 width (they were offered for the SLs I believe) but the fact that I couldn't see one prevented me from going for them.

Have seen the titanium fisish. Personally, I prefer color contrast between wheel, tire and car. Titanium is closer to pearl black, basically dark grey. I think had a glossy finish so smudges may not be as much of an issue as with polished. Probably hides break dust very well.

If you prefer the mono-chromatic look, perhaps titanium is the way to go.

RevBond has titanium on the 16v and had polished on what is now my pearl black 500e. If you message him, try to convince him to sell me the wheels, his former steed is crying out for them.

Were they 8.25s or 7.5s?

8.25s on the 500e, not sure what width on the 16v.
