Exclamation Tires and size question please.

Hi Guys,
I am replacing my stock 2000 MB wheels with with a set of stock 2005 MB wheels.
Originals: wheels 16x8
offset 34
bolt pattern 5x112

Tire size 215/65/16
NEW: Rim Width: 8J
Rim Diameter (inches): 16
Offset: 36
Number of Bolts: 5
Bolt Pattern: 5 X 112 mm

TIRE SIZE" 225/55/16

Will these fit? Could someone break down what these numbers mean. Especially what the term "offset" means? As you see, my original offset is 34 and my new offest is going to be 36. What is the difference? Does this mean that my new one will look wider or will they poke our of the car more? Is that whet is meant by offset? Will my performance change for the better or worse? Both now and later will be Michellins.

the dimensions on the wheel looks fine but, what kind of car are you putting them on??? that information is rather CRITICAL to answer a will if fit question. For offset and wheel technical explanations there is a "tech thread" at the top of the page

The wheels are going on a 2000 E320 FROM a 2005 E320. What does offset the term mean?

the wheels won't work ... the W211 uses a 14 millimeter radius seat and the w210 uses a 12 millimeter lug bolt

Would getting bolts for W211 work. Will it make the wheels fit. Sorry for my ignorance as I don't know many terms. Look at the OP's setup in the following post from benzworld: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e-class/1318187-my-new-toy-2000-e430-sport.html

I believe there are conversion studs that will work -- with the 14mm ball seat and a 12mm thread. I'm a little unclear on this, but I believe such things exist. I've definitely seen W211 *style* wheels on a W210. I am not perfectly clear on how it was accomplished.

What's wrong with your factory wheels? Are you selling them? I might be interested -- ping me when you sort out what you're doing.

Cheers, John

EDIT: Sorry, just realized this was a bit of an old thread I resurrected. Dangers of forgetting that you used the "search" feature instead of just reading the new threads...
