Tire load rating...
Luke,
Why is it that every website (including yours) that I check for the correct tire size for my car comes up with a different load index than what is in my owner's manual? I have a 2000 E430 (base), and the owner's manual Tire specifiation calls for a 235 / 45 R 17 93 W, also permissable with 235 / 45 ZR 17. Yet, when I check your website ( and others), the load rating is always 94 (instead of 93). What gives? I'm looking at the BF Goodrich G Force sport, and even their website says I need a 94 load index in my tire size, which they do not have. They do have my tire size in a 93 load index, which is what my owner's manual calls for, but they say it is not the correct tire.

if you look closely you will find the P235/45-17 (p-metric tires)tires have a 93 load index while 235/45-17 (Euro-metric tires) have a higher 94 load index and you manual was produced for American delivered cars. In todays world tire manufacturing is truely a worldwide undertaking so, a majority of tires are Euro-Metric. With that said you can use either the 93 load index or the 94 load index with no adverse effects.
