Tire Wear?
1987 560 Sel tires front/ michelin are wearing badly on "inside" tread which would indicate I guess the "caster" is off.
What parts wear in the front suspension should I check for wear prior to an expensive alignment?? 225000 miles, unknown if any front suspension parts replaced. Thanks John1 |

Camber is the first thing that comes to mind, or possibly toe. The only way you are going to know is get it on a machine and see the exact specs.

Improper toe is the most likely cause for accelerated wear, followed closely by camber. That's a lot of miles for that car; I would inspect and replace any worn parts eg. ball joints, tie rods, thrust rod bushings, etc. and then send it in for an alignment.

thrust rod bushings will be gone which alter the tow when you hit the brakes.find flat surface, drive car at low speed[5mph] and have someone hit the brakes while you watch from out side car.you will see wheel move backwards in wheel well.prob will need upper control arms as well but they are easy to replace.

Yeah.
If there's anything bent, the alignment shop won't be able to do it, and typically won't charge anything.
