Will a 17x8 38mm offset work on a 99 C280?

I got a set of 03 W211 sport package wheels that are 17"x8 with a 38MM offset,tires are 245/45R17's.

As of now the tires slighty rubs the one the steering/suspension components.

Would going to something like a 205/50R17 or a 225/45R17 help?

Specs for my factory wheels 205/60R15,7" and a 37mm offset btw.

Thanks....

225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear will work.
Or 225/45/17 front and rear will work.

Thanks!

Have you've seen anyone having rubbing problems while turning with 17X8 wheels?

BTW,I'll most likely end up using 215/45-17's.

I used to run 17 x 8 wheels ( with 35 ET ) and 225/45/17 tires, on my 2000 C 230 K.
No rubbing problems at all.
With 215's you'll have lots of clearance.

Even with a 38mm offset?

Yes.
The wheel will sit in 3 mm ( 1/8" ) more than my 35's were, but you are giving up 5 mm in tire width, as compared to my 225's.
