Exclamation Mercedes-Benz Wheel Chocks

Recently, I read a thread about a guy who was changing his tire at the side of the road… on a slight incline… and the car fell off the jack. Fortunately, the individual stated he was not physically hurt, though I imagine some damage to his ego and underwear.

In one of the replies to his post, a member recommended using wheel chocks and suggested keeping a set of inexpensive MB-made wheel chocks in the trunk. The MB part number is 203.583.00.75.

Curious, I bought a pair from my local MB dealer. Cost… US$7.81 each. Cheap insurance, when you think about it. For everyone’s benefit, here are a couple of photos of what these things look like:

You get one per package, at US$7.81 list price. The chock folds flat for easy storage in virtually any trunk or spare tire well. When you lift up the right piece, the left is hinged and locks into the base. There are claws on the left-hand edge as well as nubs on the right-hand side, which assist in gripping into the terrain. While changing a tire on any grade is dangerous and should not be attempted, this wheel chock provides a margin of safety when changing a tire in any safe location.

no I really want a set.. I use a cinder block behind the wheels when I lift the front.. plus it wasn't sarcasm.. you can't detect sarcasm through the internet.

I didn't even know these existed.. much like the jack plug add ons and the thing to put in the hole so you can lift the car by the jack hole with a standard floor jack

I've always wondered why chocks are not a required tool for a vehicles. How many times has a car rolled when someone inexperienced has tried to jack it up to change the tire? And this usually happens as cars a whizzing by you at 55+ mph in a very cramped emergency lane.

Since laying eyes on this tool a few years ago, I have bought them for each one of my cars and have urged family to do the same.

How about a part number for the jack plug add ons? Then I can get both when I'm at the dealer.

I do not have a part # for the jack hole plugs as a member here gave me them..

I just stopped by the dealer today and got some.. well.. 7.44 each and 10$ shipping to my house since its cheaper to ship it to me than drive there and back for a 14$ part

I have the EPC, but I might have to get them to find that one. I'll take a look at it tonight.

I think it's a 201 part number. The w123 never came with those but are perfectly adapted to accept them since the w201 and w124 uses the same type of jack.

I wonder how I am going to store these in the trunk..Are they steel or aluminum?

If they are steel I might be able to use a magnet to fasten them next to the triangle on the trunk underside
