Tires and rims for winter. Please help.

I know there are a ton of questions like this, but after hours of searching I can not find the answer. I just sold my Taurus and now have to drive 300d in the winter. The tires on it now are new high speed tires and suck in the snow. I want to get another set of rims for the car for winter. A guy has a set of stock rims off of a 2000 S series car. Does anyone know if they will fit a 87 300d? Is there a list some where that has which wheels are interchangable? Please help as I don't know if the rims will last long.

What you want for best performance in snow is the narrowest tire you can fit that will carry the load. Those from a 2000 will be very wide.

I would recommend the standard sized rims for your snows.

Winmutt This might sound stupid, but what do you mean by the "ET". I am new to the MB world.

Don't feel bad, I have always found wheel stuff super confusing. I still don't really understand it. By the way, my name is also Paul W.

The "ET" number is the offset of the wheel, the distance (in mm) between the mating surface of the wheel and it's centerline.

First wheel fact to intently store in my brain. Store complete.

More please!
