hi guys, i previoiusly asked this question regarding fitment about 18x8.5 et47 amg's for my 89 300e...i thought that those would be a tight fit, and maybe not even fit at all...so i am now considering 18x8 et31 monoblock ii's....will this fit? im just concerned that it will not even fit into the wheel well and onto the lugs, because these are pretty wide....any suggestions? and when people say that it will rub the fender, what exactly do they mean? it looks like there's a lot of room to fit some 18's and tires into those large wheel wells, and the clearance now between the fender and my 15" stock rims is more than 1.5 inches...do they mean the wheel well? thanks for clearing everything up...

ben

I don't know if those rims will fit your car, but I can help answer your question about rubbing. Rubbing is when the inside of your fender lip touches the tire. This rubbing usually occurs when the suspension is compressed (hitting a bump).

You mentioned that you have about 1 1/2'' of fender gap (the area between the fender and tire). Depending on the right offset of your new wheel, it still may rub if you do not roll the fender. You can check with a reputable shop who can check the books on your setup.

I recently purchased 19'' rims and although I have about 1 1/4'' of fender gap, my fenders had to be rolled. (Note that even Mercedes' "Collection" catalog recommends "body modifications" when installing 18'' on an E430 (W210).

If your car requires rolling, I strongly recommend going to a reputable, professional shop who has a special machine to roll the fenders. I hope this helps.

If you simply must have the 18"s then follow the suggestion above. I would recommend going with 225/45/17 tires mounted on 17x7.5 rims F&R. That should work without major problems or additional expense. Also, unless you have done some hardcore suspension tuning the suspension will not be able to take full advantage of the shorter stiffer sidewall the 18"s offer vs 17"s.

Just my vote...Lee

The Fitment you are looking for is not recommended for your car AMG does not even list a wheel application for your car. You may be able to make the 18" AMG wheel fit your car but it is not designed to fit properly.
