I'm considering ordering 18" by 8" AMG Monoblock replica wheels for my '88 420SEL. Would these rub against the fenders after I lower it 1-2", or even with stock suspension?
Also, what kind of tires can be suggested for this size wheel? I'm looking for good performance, but mostly comfort due to the larger wheels/tighter suspension; and especially low noise(the Coopers are too loud, but, they were on the car when i bought her). Cost is not an issue(Birthday+parents=cool stuff for my car that I can't afford)hehe |

I would be interested to see pics of your red leather interior with red lights! That seems like a nice combi with a silver exterior....
And what about the black custom grille? How does it look like? If you have the pics, would you mind emailing me at akip8031@nus.edu.sg ? Thanks! Mervyn 1983 W126 (280SEL) |

Mervyn...
I don't have any pics of the red lights yet, I don't even have them all in yet because I haven't been able to find 5w red bulbs for the lights on the bottoms of the doors, or another red light for the rear dome light(10w), only the front (I could only find one bulb, and it didn't actually fit, I had to bend the connectors to get it to stay in). It looks really cool though at night.
As far as the grill goes, it's under the "Soon" part of the description of my car. I'm not even sure what i'm gonna do yet, but I'm thinkin just paint it dark dark grey and maybe add a few more chrome strips, still thinkin about it. I have pictures of the car stock, before the clear corners even, if you want I could email them to you. I was gonna wait untill I got new wheels and tinted windows before I put the time into doing a good photo-shoot, but I'll see if I can take some pictures sooner. |

Big Pimpin,
Oh, I know what red lights you're talking about! I have them as my cabin lights - yea, 10W red dome cabin lights. Got them in a pair, and yes, I also didnt manage to get them in the proper size, so had to settle for smaller ones and therefore had to bend the contact points. But it has been working fine ever since. As for the grille, from your description I now know how it might look like - cos I did the same to my grille too! Painted the plastic insert matt black, and added several chrome strips. I could email you the pics of the bulbs and grille if you want, you could reach me at akip8031@nus.edu.sg I'm sure the 18" rims will look great on the 126, be sure to update me when you're done! Cheers Mervyn 1983 W126 (280SEL) |
