Chrome chrome re chrome
chrome peeling off rims..
The guy above had peeling chrome. My tires are going flat b/c the chrome on the inside has pitted and air is escaping at the beads. Apparently my wheels have been chromed already as has the guy above. Solution? rechrome? New rims? Last edited by Mal; 02-19-2008 at 03:22 AM. |

I've seen great results when sent to a polisher instead. As long as it is proberly cleared, it will look great. Should cost close to the same as getting your rims rechromed.

I think rechroming or polishing a chromed rim that is now peeling is pretty tough to do. Its really hard to get off the chrome....all of it.

If it is that far gone, then media blasting the rims is an option, or they can be dipped in an acid bath to dissolve the old plating.

How anyone thinks chrome plating can survive the machine that installs/removes tires ...
